Japanese Okonomiyaki Tasting

  • Clive Library 1900 Northwest 114th Street Clive, IA, 50325 United States (map)

Join us and try Okonomiyaki

Okonimiyaki is a Japanese savory pancake containing a variety of ingredients.  The name is derived from the word okonomi, meaning “how you like” or “what you like”, and yaki meaning “grill”.  Okonomiyaki is mainly associated with the Kansai or Hiroshima areas of Japan, but is widely available throughout the country.  Toppings and batters tend to vary according to region.

At this tasting event, you’d be able to try Kansai style Okonomiyaki, the predominant version of the dish, found throughout most of Japan.  The batter is made of flour, dashi (Japanese soup stock), eggs and shredded cabbage, bacon and other Japanese condiments.
